Our tea tasting moved twice but we finally got to pull it off. We had india, chinese, and african teas with a bunch of different desserts. There wasn’t much of turn out like there had been the previous year, however that might have been the weather conditions and other events that were going on that might have caused that.
The Sunday 3.20.2011 was our semester ethnic dinner. This time we chose a Thai Restaurant. We were all looking forward to the event that most of us had already decided what we were going to order before we went. The decor of the Restaurant was beautiful and quaint. It was laughs all around and we all had a blast. The iced coffee, the cocunut soup, and the green curry were some of the favorite dishes that people liked.

ISU visits the Blue Nile, a ethiopian restauraunt to have a good time and learn some of the culture.
A new program that was a big success for ISU was the International Tea Tasting. Our president Jayne Mitchell had ordered and bought many different kinds of international desserts. Our main feature was the four different teas we had from around the world. We were not expecting many people to show up but imagine our surprise when most of the desserts and all of our tea went.
A new event that ISU has tried out is the Russian Festival. It was an amazing and fun time where we had russian food, listened to authentic music, learned a few dances, and bought some souvenirs. It was an enriching amount of time we spent.
It wasn’t in October but the german festival in Grand Rapids was a cultural hub. ISU members had an amazing time tasting the many different German food. There were games as well as a keg tossing event that one of our members was brave enough to try.
Every Year we have a holiday party. Everyone is welcome, and it will be a relaxing evening before final exams. There will be everything from gingerbread houses to cookies to pinatas. The place will be determined. Last year we played the cartoon version of “How the Grinch Stole Christmas”
