5 ways to make a big difference

1. Educate yourself!

In order to help any cause, The Nwagni Project feels you need to know what its all about. We encourage you to learn about what we’re doing before you commit yourself to anything. The more you know, the more you can help. It is extremely important that people understand why we exist, what we’re trying to do, and how we are going to achieve these important goals.

How to do it:

  • Browse our website, specifically the “our projects” page, and “awareness”
  • Contact our members with questions
  • Look up more information about Cameroon and other African nations online or at your local library

2. Donate!

Like any non-profit organization, we need money to function and produce results. In order to teach, learn, build and travel, we need monetary help. We work to raise our own funds through events, but personal donations have been our number one source of income, and every dollar goes a great distance. Our short-term goal is $5,000. All donations are tax-deductible through Albion College.
How to do it:

  • Most importantly, come to our events. Visit our Upcoming Events page, and attend any events that you are available for. The cost of tickets or open donations help our cause, and it’s awesome to see your support!
  • Also, you can send checks payable to “Albion College” with “The Nwagni Project” on the memo line to:

3. Spread the word!

The Nwagni Project is a relatively new, small, student run organization. That means that we are but a few voices amongst millions of people that are able to make a huge difference. The more people that know about us, and the organizations that we support, the more chances we have for change.
How to do it:

  • Tell family, friends, co-workers, peers and professors, and ask them to spread the word too!
  • Paste our website’s link onto your own website or link us to your blog to attract more people to our efforts!

4. Volunteer!

When we hold fund raising or awareness events, we are always looking for help to set-up, tear-down and organize ideas. Your time can be more important and more valuable than a monetary donation.
How to do it:

  • Look at our Upcoming Events page and look for dates and times that work for you. (Find events that say “Looking for Help” near them)
  • Contact one of our executive board members and ask them how you can be involved
  • Attend weekly meetings during the semester to contribute your ideas.

5. Write letters!

Know someone who could help us financially or otherwise? Write them a letter telling them about our project! Our letter writing campaigns have been the most successful fund raising tool so far, bringing in over $10,000 in personal donations. We can provide you with brochures and other information to send along with your personal letter if you would like it, simply contact one of our executive board members.
How to do it:

  • Include the following in your letter:
  • Why The Nwagni Project is important to you
  • How you heard about us
  • What we’re trying to accomplish
  • How they can be involved or donate

Also, it’s great to send a stamped and addressed envelope with your letter, to ensure a returned response of any kind. Just use our address or your own!
