Siberian Elm

Ulmus pumila L. – Ulmaceae – elm family

Siberian elm is an occasional street tree in Albion.  The species is native to eastern Europe and western Asia.  Like our other elm species, it flowers and fruits in early spring.

In Albion, this species may become a very large tree.  It may be distinguished from our other elm species by its insect-ravaged small leaves.  Elm leaf beetles are extremely hard on this species in our area.
