Sinfonia Crest

Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity, the world’s largest Fraternity of Music, was founded in 1898 at Boston’s New England Conservatory of Music, under the guidance of Ossian Everett Mills. The goals of the Fraternity are defined in its Object:

The Object of this Fraternity shall be for the development of the best and truest fraternal spirit, the mutual welfare and brotherhood of musical students, the advancement of music in America and a loyalty to the Alma Mater.

Today Phi Mu Alpha has chapters on over 200 college and university campuses nationwide and has initiated over 150,000 members.

The Beta Iota chapter of Phi Mu Alpha was founded at Albion College in Albion, MI on October 31, 1930. Today we have 24 active collegiate members, with the Gamma Xi class being the newest initiated. Beta Iota is a member of Province 2 of Phi Mu Alpha.
