Global & Community Health

Travel the world or stay local and translate your Albion College Public Health education into practice.

Public health seeks to ensure that the conditions that allow for good health are possible for all populations. It is grounded in the principles of evidence-based medicine and epidemiology. Community and global health are the branches of public health that translate public health science into effective programming and services for local communities.
Community Health Workers are key members of public health teams, working to ensure that all communities have the resources needed for good psychological and physical health.
Community Health Workers:
  • Document community needs
  • Connect vulnerable populations to local resources
  • Promote good health and disease prevention
  • Research impediments to quality health care
  • Implement health policy changes
  • Advocate for health equity
The specialties of Albion’s faculty let students travel the world or work locally to apply their public health education beyond the classroom.
