What is Public Health?

Public health is the promotion of health for groups of people. These groups range from small communities all the way to large regions of the world.

Professionals in public health:

  • Educate and promote healthy behaviors and lifestyles

  • Promote prevention

  • Conduct research

  • Create vaccines, medications, and therapies

  • Prevent, track, treat, and control disease spread

  • Plan, write, create, and implement policy

  • Identify and limit inequalities in health
