NEDCC Preservation Assessment
I believe this went fairly well. From the conversation I had with our assessor afterwards, it seems most of her concerns were in regards to “big” issues: proper shelving, environmental conditions, consolidation of storage, etc. She seemed to be impressed by the accomplishments of the students who work here and with the volume and content of our collections. I’ll receive an executive summary of the assessment at the end of April and the final report at the end of May. I’ve been asked to speak about our NEH grant and NEDCC preservation assessment at the Michigan Library Consortium’s June conference, “Who are You Going to Call? Library-Vendor Partnerships on Preservation Projects.” More information is available here: https://members.mlcnet.org/workshops/viewcourse.html?id=197
